Additional Notes of Rueben Garold (Jerry) Frain

Staff Sgt. Garold R. Frain has returned from service with the eight air force in England to spend a 20-day leave with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Torence E. Frain, in Culver.

Ball turret gunner of a Flying Fortress, he holds the air medal with three oak leaf clusters and was recently presented the distinguished flying cross.

There are two brothers in the service, Theodore Frain in the navy, and Charles Frain, who has served a year and a half with the medical corps.


Garold R. "Jerry" Frain

Garold R. "Jerry" Frain, 85, Salina, died Wednesday, Oct. 18, 1995, at Windsor Estates, Salina.

Mr. Frain was born Dec. 30, 1909, at Culver. He was a former resident of Bennington and Solomon. He was a World War II Air Force veteran. He was a heavy equipment operator for Saline County Highway Department, Johnson Sand Co., A.J. Holmquist and others. He was a life member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a member of Benevolent Protective Order of Elks Lodge, Moose Lodge, Salina Scottish Rite and Irish Shrine.

His wife, Blanche M., died Dec. 3, 1994.

Survivors include a brother, Eugene of Forsyth, Mo.; and nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Geisendorf-Rush Smith Funeral Home, Salina. Burial will be in Gypsum Hill Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Salina.

Visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, 401 W. Iron Ave., Salina 67401.
